Josh and his Tiger Cub Scouts (Den 10 of Pack 132) had a go-see-it trip today. We were able to partake in a tour of one of the fire houses in Mesa, AZ. House 206 to be exact, one of the few in the city that has a ladder truck (which they were very proud of). The tour was probably about 15 minutes too long towards the end, as all the boys were a bit crazy from just standing around. All in all it was a good time and we got to learn some of the ins and outs of what goes on during a 24 hour shift at the fire house.
They actually pulled out the ladder truck and showed all of the ins and outs of it. The boys got to sit in the cab, and try on the various parts of the protective gear that they wear when fighting fires. They even extended the ladder for us to see, which reaches 85 feet high. It made for a good afternoon - now I'm ready to just relax.
